Experiments to convert advent calendars into scrollytelling format

Around the Christmas period last year, two advent calendar series caught my attention: Athanasia Monika Mowinckel’s “Modern R Package Development” and Digtial Research Academy’s Open Science Bird. Inspired by these, I made an attempt to convert the content of these advent calendars into a scrollytelling format using Quarto.

What is Scrollytelling?

Scrollytelling is a storytelling technique that combines narrative text with interactive visual elements, allowing readers to engage with the content as they scroll through a webpage. I used the Closeread extension for Quarto to create the scrollytelling experience.
